Description

Abell 28
PK 158+37.1

Abell 28 is a 13.5 mag Planetary Nebula in the Constellation Ursa Major with very low surface brightness and a diameter of about 5.5 arcmin. The brightness seems to be unevenly distributed over the disk. The PN has a bright rim in the NW while it is getting dimmer to the SE. The blue progenitor star 17.4 mag is staggered away from of the center.

Acquisition Notes:

Captured and processed in HaRGB filters.

Abell 28 was not a friendly target to photograph and process. The subs had very little data with minimal structure within the nebula. Even though I processed this one multiple times, I am still not satisfied with the result as this image is the best I could produce from the data. Overall tough target that I recommend for more experienced AP'ers. I'm putting this one to bed and calling it "good enough for me."

Thanks, Eddie
